Congressman Ryan Runs Marathon to Support Ohio Power Breath Workshop

“As our troops return from serving overseas, too many are facing mental health issues. One suicide among our returning service men and women is one too many. We need to provide these heroes with options to connect back with their communities and families.

“Please join me in sponsoring Project Welcome Home Troops’ Ohio Power Breath Workshop. For every $250 raised, a service member can attend the training at no cost to them.”

This marathon, all 26.2 miles, is a way for me to show these men and women that I stand with them. And I know that Project Welcome Home Troops is there for them too.

Congressman Ryan is running the Cleveland Marathon on May 20, 2012 to raise funds and awareness about Project Welcome Home Troops.

Ohio Power Breath Workshop

The Power Breath Workshop is a mind-body resilience building program for returning veterans. Taught over 6 consecutive days, the workshop offers practical breath-based tools and physical stretching that decrease the stress, anxiety and sleep problems that many returning veterans experience. Learn a set of breathing practices that can be used as needed, day or night, to reduce sudden anxiety or insomnia.

Congressman Ryan was introduced to Project Welcome Home Troops while researching the benefits of mindfulness. He was heartened to see such positive results for our troops from a simple practice, and is choosing to support Project Welcome Home Troops because he wants to see the program expanded to Ohio.
